[Niki isn't in the mood to rest, but it doesn't hurt to take a look at the place they'll be calling home for now. He doesn't get very far in his exploration of the apartments before a phuji crosses his path, presumably being chased out of someone's room. Maybe it's yours?

Niki has no idea what it is, but his eyes light up when he sees it anyway.]

⬢ action: work like the rent is due tomorrow
[Niki isn't good at a lot of things, but if there's one thing he can do, it's foraging, so when the bakers ask for help, Niki is almost too enthusiastic to sign up. If anyone is nearby considering a job, Niki turns to them with enthusiasm:]

Are you thinking of heading to the ruins, too? I'll do anything when I'm hungry, but I'd like it a lot better if I didn't have to go alone!

[A few days have passed since their arrival and nothing has changed. They're still stuck here. Niki feels sick, and it's probably the lack of food, but it's not just that.]

Hi, hi~! If anyone can hear me, please reply! I've got a really huge favor to ask. I think food probably isn't going to be really easy to get here, so... If anyone is into hunting, could you maybe consider bringing me along? I don't like doing unnecessary things, but I think it might be important for me to learn. [...] Um, see, I'm a chef, so I think this might be the best way for me to help out around here.

I'll do literally anything! Well, I'm also an idol, so I'd really prefer not to sell my body if I don't have to, but I'm really desperate here!

You know, I kind of feel like I'm getting mixed messages here. [There sure is a discrepancy between this lady's words and actions!] And "kill" is kind of a strong word. It's more like we're... repurposing it.

M-mixed messages? O-oh I apologise! [She's not sure what she's apologising for yet.] And I see, I believe that does make sense.

Meat and fur must be reused anyway. [Lifting her cane...]

Right~? I don't know what the people here believe in, but as long as we make sure not to waste anything, I'm sure their gods will understand!

[This lady gets it! He's actually kind of relieved by that. Not everyone knows what it's like to have to fight to survive.

He takes a step back just to be safe, though really, he doesn't actually know what a safe distance is in this case. He's never seen anyone use a cane like this before.]

[Hmm, should he look away? This might be unpleasant. But he feels like the thing might escape if he looks away...]

Since it's already, um... cooked... I bet it'd go great with a nice sauce! But we'd probably have to make it ourselves, and that's just more time and effort...

Then again, I've never eaten a monster, or anything cooked by— magic? [Was that magic? He's never seen real magic before.] So I don't even know what it tastes like plain.
