[Niki isn't in the mood to rest, but it doesn't hurt to take a look at the place they'll be calling home for now. He doesn't get very far in his exploration of the apartments before a phuji crosses his path, presumably being chased out of someone's room. Maybe it's yours?

Niki has no idea what it is, but his eyes light up when he sees it anyway.]

⬢ action: work like the rent is due tomorrow
[Niki isn't good at a lot of things, but if there's one thing he can do, it's foraging, so when the bakers ask for help, Niki is almost too enthusiastic to sign up. If anyone is nearby considering a job, Niki turns to them with enthusiasm:]

Are you thinking of heading to the ruins, too? I'll do anything when I'm hungry, but I'd like it a lot better if I didn't have to go alone!

[A few days have passed since their arrival and nothing has changed. They're still stuck here. Niki feels sick, and it's probably the lack of food, but it's not just that.]

Hi, hi~! If anyone can hear me, please reply! I've got a really huge favor to ask. I think food probably isn't going to be really easy to get here, so... If anyone is into hunting, could you maybe consider bringing me along? I don't like doing unnecessary things, but I think it might be important for me to learn. [...] Um, see, I'm a chef, so I think this might be the best way for me to help out around here.

[That isn't the only reason, but...]

I'll do literally anything! Well, I'm also an idol, so I'd really prefer not to sell my body if I don't have to, but I'm really desperate here!

I know how to use a staff which is not exactly the easiest to hunt with...but you'll just have to learn to make do as a beginner. [Thinking] Come on. I can show you how to corral some monsters at least. We'll work on some easy ones first.

Alright, I can do that! [They aren't his practice clothes, but the clothes he arrived in should be comfortable enough.] I'll see you in a bit!

[And true to his word, Niki heads right over to their meeting spot immediately after. He'll be wearing a t-shirt and jeans (unfortunate, but that's all he has right now). He isn't empty-handed, though—he's also carrying a small paper bag with him.]

[And Estelle has two long sticks in hand. One is her bo staff, collapsible, but the other is a simple long wooden stick]

[Admittedly, he's a little nervous about doing something that'll probably be pretty tiring, but it feels like something that'll be important, so he's committed.]

Alright, lets go through some basics together and we'll find some relatively easy monsters to hunt.

[Niki, maybe surprisingly, has no problem catching it. He doesn't especially enjoy physical activity, but that doesn't mean he isn't actually kind of used to it by now.]

Sounds good to me! I'll follow your lead. I'd appreciate it if you'd go easy on me, though~. I have a pretty annoying constitution.

Hmm, then I'll teach you as my teacher used to teach me!

[Harshly...with praise? Maybe.]

Yay! [Niki always assumes the best, so he isn't even a little concerned yet. He goes to set down the small bag he brought with him—somewhere off to the side, so it won't be in the way.] I'll try my best to keep up.

So what do I need to know to start?

[ Estelle gently nudges Niki into position. Is this what it's like to be a teacher? It's almost as cool as being a big sister]

First, guard stance. Hold your bo staff like this to protect your grip.

[The way she attempts to guide him into place feels sort of familiar, he thinks.]

I guess this is sort of like dancing, huh... [He has distinct memories of a certain someone trying to nudge him into position like this before. He didn't consider himself a good dancer, but maybe if he thinks of it like that...] Like this?

[It's a little awkward, but he tries to hold the stance he thinks she's trying to get from him.]

Hmm, I guess it is a little. If you're quick on your feet, you'll get the hang of it quicker.

[She uses her staff to nudge him into place and nods approvingly]

Now, let me show you a few moves and then repeat after me.

[If he does it wrong, he'll get a gentle thwack against his legs. Focus! If he gets it right, he gets praise]

I guess I can be quick on my feet if I have to be. [He says this as he tries to mimic her positions.] It'd be a lot easier if there was food involved. But that's partly why I'm in this situation in the first place...

[Idly, he wonders if Rinne knows anything about this kind of thing. He remembers him handling a broom an awful lot like Estelle is handling this stick. He'll pocket that thought for now...

He's definitely going to need a few thwacks, but it also doesn't take him terribly long to start catching on.]

How did you end up learning this stuff? If it's okay for me to ask, I mean.
